Residential System
The basic onsite sewage facility (OSSF) is made up of several components.
First, the waste is collected in the house, through a series of pipes, then collected into a single pipe outside the home into a collection tank. In a conventional, ground-disposal type system, this is often a two-compartment septic tank.
Next, some type of pre-treatment occurs, either in the septic tank or some type of treatment unit.
Next, the effluent is disposed of on or in the ground.
