Site Visit

The site visit is when the Engineer visits the site.

During this visit, there are a variety of tasks that are done, pending the design:

  • Do a rough layout of the buiding(s).
  • Establish setback distances for such things as water wells, ponds/streams, property lines, easement setbacks, etc.
  • Perform a soil profile analysis. This involves digging a series of holes in the proposed field area, and classifying the soil, per the USDA Soil Classification System. Our firm is certified to perform these tests. The soil profile is important, as it establishes important characteristics of the soil, the presence of water (if any), and leads to ultimate field sizing of the system.
  • Establish site elevations (topographic information) for the design.
  • Do staking of the proposed system, for a site visit by the Permit Authoritys (they visit the site, during the design review phase).
